An engaging and heart-warming ‘two voice’ story of an East Coast/West Coast digital friendship that begins when Elizabeth emails her soon-to-be college roommate, Lauren. On the cusp of freedom during their last summer before starting a new independent life away from home, they discover the catharsis that an anonymous email friendship can bring as they chronicle the tension, excitement and anxiety of leaving their homes, falling in love, and finding the right mini-fridge.

Full of the bitter-sweetness of the last summer of childhood
'Surprisingly moving' ****
'Enjoy a bit of college coming-of-age angst? Then you'll love this story of soon-to-be roommates Elizabeth and Lauren in the last summer before they start uni'
It is so clear that this is the must-have book at the moment... It was apparent even just a few chapters into Roomies that it was in a league of its own. With its witty humour, realistic glimpses into the changing lives of teenagers... I enjoyed reading Roomies far beyond belief... This was one of my favourite books of the year, hands down... Unique, thought-provoking and honest, Roomies is a five-star coming-of-age novel that I recommended HIGHLY
'I thoroughly enjoyed Roomies mostly because I loved seeing a friendship develop via emails... Really easy to read as you just keep wanting to know more'
'Roomies was a book which left me with warm fuzzies, it was a book which both authors dealt with so many real life issues in a realistic way, but was also a book which on many occasions left me with a huge smile on my face. This was my first book by Sara Zarr and Altebrando, but after the great impression this book left with me it certainly won't be my last'
'Roomies is a relatable novel that will resonate with many young adults, including those about to head to university - and those who already have started, or left, and can well remember their nervous lead-up to their entirely new life... A highly enjoyable read'
'I loved how Roomies incorporates so many issues into the plot, how it gives each one it encounters a small amount of attention - nodding to it, dealing with it with the amount of time it needed, never dwelling on them before moving on... perfect for anyone who will be leaving for university soon'
'I was so excited when Roomies dropped unexpectedly through my letterbox. I'd seen it around the internet and the blogosphere... It's light-hearted yet still manages to explore many themes of growing up and leaving home in a mature and interesting way. I'm looking forward to reading more of these authors!'
